This is a simple tutorial on how to make a Lantern from Rapunzel's Tangled movie. This is how they are made by me in Adobe Photoshop CS5.
Simple steps, create the shape you want by using a shaper tool and turning it white or even just going straight for using the grandiet tool with yellow and pink. Then add white outlines. Depending on the angle of course use flames if needed.
The glow is so simple, you will see the 3bar thing in the layers area on Adobe Photoshop Cs5. In that area you will find something called Blending Options. You turn on Outer Glow and use orange to make it look like it glows, then slip on inner glow with yellow. The yellow is defaulted to the right color on that. Of course you want to make sure your lantern looks softer around the edges.
This is just a simple tutorial.
So if you've EVER wondered how I create the laterns in my artwork of Tangled, its so easy believe me you'll learn it in no time.
It really honors me when people use stuff like this. Now I have a question and later at some point I'll put it to a vote. But would you ever be interested in me giving art lessons in how to videos put up on youtube?
Things like the basics of drawing, perspective and how to create it, the laws of physics applied to drawing. Good old Cartoon time! Realism and why its so tedious but some people ace it too bad its not me! LOL I dunno just some funny little ideas.
I thought of that later on after it was done, it was late at night and my brain was like durh. But oh well the full colors are on the lanterns anyways so it kinda guides you int hat way.
I still think its so cool someone used it to make a lantern of their own. If you did you know learn from this and you end up using my method please show me? I'm always curious.
Now I need to figure out what tutorials to do. I didn't know if I'd explain them properly but apparently I can.
Thanks its my first ever, so later when I don't feel like falling asleep. I will be doing one on how to put all of them together to create the effect, and then another one on how to make the water and reflections! LOL
